Being a member of The Big Event Planning Committee is a rewarding experience. Not only is it an opportunity to be a part of Texas State University's largest tradition, it also offers interpersonal growth, leadership development, and a support system on campus with new friends! Without our committee, our Big Event would not be successful. And the good news? This team is open to all! Undergraduate or graduate student – you can be a part of the legacy!
Applications to be part of our committee open at the beginning of Bobcat Welcome Week every August. Students who are accepted can expect a few things:
- Opportunities to build community and feel a sense of belonging throughout the year. With our Team Retreat, socials throughout the year, and our End of Year Kickback, our team works hard to ensure our committee is seen, heard, and valued.
- The ability to accrue community service hours. As a team dedicated to putting on the largest service project on campus, it's important for us to stay true to that idea by participating in various service projects ourselves. These opportunities will be planned by our team with assistance from Leadership and Service.
- Year-long commitment at various events leading up to The Big Event. From our committee meetings in the Fall and Spring semesters, to our preparation events such as our Super Saturdays and Tool Inventory, to our event day, committee members are expected to be present and fully engaged in all the things we do throughout the year. While it seems like a lot of work, we do our best to make sure your experience is worthwhile and fun!
